What Does It Mean to Be a GRANGER?
At The Grange School, you'll often hear people talk about being a GRANGER.
Being a GRANGER is about more than attending our school. It is about the way we approach challenges, treat others and contribute to our community. It is about the qualities we develop, the choices we make and the values we live by every day.
Our name helps tell that story.
The letters in GRANGE represent the virtues that we believe help young people flourish both in school and beyond:
G - Gratitude
Being thankful for the opportunities we have and appreciating the people who support us.
R - Resilience
Showing determination when things are difficult and learning from setbacks.
A - Ambition
Having high aspirations and striving to be the very best version of ourselves.
N - Neighbourliness
Treating others with kindness, respect and consideration, and helping everyone feel that they belong.
G - Generosity
Giving our time, encouragement and support to others and looking for ways to make a positive difference.
E - Empathy
Listening, understanding and recognising the feelings and perspectives of others.
Being a GRANGER Every Day
Being a GRANGER is not about being perfect. Everyone makes mistakes and everyone faces challenges.
What matters is how we respond.
We encourage our students to live out the GRANGE virtues not only in lessons and around school, but also at home, in sports teams and clubs, online and within the wider community.
A GRANGER:
- Says thank you and shows appreciation.
- Keeps going when things are tough.
- Aims high and works hard.
- Looks out for others.
- Gives generously.
- Treats people with understanding and respect.
These are the qualities that help build strong relationships, successful futures and thriving communities.
Once a GRANGER, always a GRANGER.
